Objective/

Interpret a piece of music through typography to express its emotion.

Approach/

“Like I Need You” is a song by Keshi dedicated to a girl he loves. However, in the eyes of the girl, it is nothing serious. He is torn and can’t move on because he wants something more than just a friend.

I experimented with projecting light and images onto various surfaces to create dimensional design solutions. I ended up projecting light through a glass bottle and cut-out letters of paper to express the singer's sorrow. The refraction of the glass bottle helped support the smooth melody of the song. The distorted typeform and dim yellow establish a gloomy and somber mood.

During the process, I experimented with projecting light and images onto various surfaces to create dimensional design solutions.
